Suddenly the recently assigned case worker called me on Friday mid morning and said she had spoke to Carrot Top's mom. CW wanted to know if it was at all possible to have a visit that afternoon. We worked it out and the CW transported Carrot Top to the visit in a near by town.
CW is fairly new but is very nice. She was really good with Carrot Top. I saw true care from her to him and I was very happy about that!
Mom had suddenly gotten out of jail on bond for the second time in one month. Since the grandma did not pass her home study CW asked Mom if there were any other family members interested in taking Carrot Top in while she completes her Service Plan. Mom stated that there may be a few but that she wanted Carrot Top to stay with us and not be moved to any family member. Mom said she felt like he is really happy with us and in a good place being loved and provided with more than any of her family could ever do or offer to him. Mom sent us a very nice letter thanking us for taking care of and loving Carrot Top. Of course, we were very happy at this news and told the CW that he has a home with us as long as he needs one. We will see how this works out but at this point there will not be a home study started for any other family members and when we go back to court next month they will ask the judge for placement to continue in our home.
Mom then went on to express to CW that she wants to go to In Patient Drug Rehab. This is a huge step that the CW and our family hopes that she follows through on for the sake of putting her family back together.
Mom did send home several snacks, toys, and clothes with him......however, the clothes were size 24 mths and he wears 3T.
He is still doing great and we are continuing to work on potty training. He is making progress. He is very sweet and mild mannered most of the time.
Tomorrow we will be going to my parents to celebrate some recent birthdays along with the holiday: my husband turned 41, I turned the BIG 40, and our daughter turned 17......HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I'm glad that Mom seems to be making an effort anyway and that she's trying to put Carrot Top first. Praying she follows through with everything...
ReplyDeleteExactly what I said....even though she has made some very very poor decisions even after Carrot Top being removed from her she is trying to do something right for him. I sure hope she follows through to.
