The Perm. Conference went very good. I visited out front with the parents and the Great Aunt who is hoping that all four boys will be placed with her. The parents and Great Aunt were very polite, asked lots of questions about the two boys I have and I offered quite a bit of info without them having to ask.
The Great Aunt has not received a call at all about the home study or background check. As we all know this process can drag on for quite some time and being as the Great Aunt is not real familiar with the system (or at least she says she has had no previous involvement with CPS) it could be a while. The other state that she lives in is known for being very, very slow. Based on first impressions and first impressions only.....I think she would be a good place for the boys. That made me feel good -you know a sense of comfort,
I made sure I brought up about Lil Boy telling me his daddy cut him with a knife. The facilitator asked if I thought he would be able to participate in play therapy and I said yes. We will see what happens...
The caseworker told me the investigation supervisor told her this cutting information was added to the investigation file and that she would call me to let me know. Well I still have not received a call from this lady. But I will keep at it. I am going to try to meet up with the boys atty at court tomorrow.
At the end of the conference we were standing outside the room talking about this weeks visit and the mom and dad thanked me. The dad said if I could have picked someone for the boys ---it would have been you. This was very nice of them to say. Glad I made them feel comfortable around me....but I still have my guard up.
During the conference the parents gave me permission to cut both boys hair in writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got hair cuts that evening and they are both so handsome:)
At the very end when we walked back up front the Great Aunt hugged me and thanked me. Another nice gesture.
